This painting is the second in the "Naiades" series that depicts lily pads on a lake . This series was inspired by the beautifully overlapping shapes of the lily pads and the reflection of a weeping willow around the lake (depicted here in red) that was intermingling with the water lilies. As in many of my paintings I enjoyed playing with the tension created by the juxtaposition of organic shapes and geometrical patterns. After all if you look at anything organic at a small enough scale, you will come to a point where it all becomes geometric ( at a cell level or a molecular level) Naiads or Naiades in French are Greek mythological female creatures that were inhabiting bodies of fresh water. There is something whimsical about the way the lilypads are rendered in this series, reminiscent of a place you could find in a fairy tale, a place where you could see Naiades.

Landscapes, florals and life drawings in mixed media. Meticulously hand drawn patterns are added over west coast forests and floral still lives in a unique mix of semi abstract and Art Nouveau influences. Real people in all their diversity and imperfection deserve to be the subject of fine art and I would like my art to help people, and in particular women feel confident, proud, valued and accepted as they are. I work from drawings made in life drawing classes with inspiring and diverse models. Nature series Forest: Many visitors comment that my forest paintings make them feel relaxed and are capturing how it feels to be in the west coast rain forest. In most of these paintings, time is made visible with repetitive lines, detailed patterns or scribbles that mark seconds like a metronome. I like to think there is value in spending time making something that has no other use than being looked at, being devoted to the creative play and making that time tangible on the canvas. This is very much in opposition to how time is perceived in our society where there is a lot of pressure for efficient time management. Flowers: My flower paintings series are all made from imagination and I want them to add a touch of brightness, color and joy that will light up a room.
