Meet "Bantam Bandits," an abstract painting which showcases a dynamic and vibrant composition with influences from modern abstract art movements. The artwork features fluid, interlocking shapes and bold, sweeping lines that create a sense of movement and energy. The color palette is dominated by warm hues of red, yellow, and orange, contrasted with cooler tones of blue and green. The shapes and lines evoke a playful interaction, reminiscent of animals or whimsical characters in motion. The painting draws inspiration from Abstract Expressionism, evident in the spontaneous and gestural application of color and form. The influence of Color Field painting is also noticeable, with large areas of flat, vivid color creating a striking visual impact. Additionally, there are elements of Fauvism, characterized by the bold, non-naturalistic use of color to express emotion and dynamism. The composition is non-representational, allowing viewers to interpret the forms and shapes freely, while the vibrant colors and dynamic lines convey a sense of joy and liveliness. The overall style is a blend of mid-century modern aesthetics and contemporary abstract art, making "Bantam Bandits" a captivating and energetic piece.

Painting from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand Kirsty loves to unleash colour, shape, line, and form to create refreshing, expressive abstract artworks, transporting the viewer to another place, to other memories. Having spent much of her life travelling and living around the world, Kirsty is driven by a sense of curiosity and adventure. This stimulation and a love of art, in particular abstraction, forms the basis of her work, conveying a sense of escapade and joyful escapism. Weaving memories with storylines and explosions of colour, Kirsty’s abstract art is like visual poetry. Instead of words and sentences, she intuitively creates a visual dance of the spirit. Her artwork has been featured in popular high-end magazines including, Home & Interiors - Scotland, Square Space - Singapore, AD Pro, Mexico and Maison et Jardin, France. A finalist in several notable Art Awards, including The Parkin Drawing Prize 2020 and the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2017, Kirsty’s work is exhibited widely, she also has a piece with The James Wallace Arts Trust.
