This drawing/painting, a riff on pages from David Foster Wallace's novel Infinite Jest, notes the claustrophobic world of the book, the impinging darkness or emptiness, and the way a story - entertainment in the case of this book - can be more alive than the "real" world. It is one of a large series of drawing/paintings and mixed media collages (2016-present) inspired by specific books: Infinite Jest, Moby Dick by Melville, Mason&Dixon by Pynchon, At Swim-Two-Birds by O'Brien, Tristram Shandy by Sterne, White Guard by Bulgakov, Mrs. Dalloway by Woolf, and other texts that are not books, including product packages and advertising. I enjoy making these and would be delighted to take commissions for a drawing or collage of any size inspired by a particular book, specific page of a book, or any other text (signs, advertisements, Wikipedia pages, etc.) of your choice. I'd love to collaborate on this.
