This project aims to comment on the demands required of individuals in today’s society. In our everyday lives, often dominated by time squeeze, it is expected that you are fully updated, well informed and reflected on every issue concerning politics, social aspects, culture and so on. It is expected that you are ambiguous both in your professional career and in your private life, and it is important to always have a perfect facade outward. In short, this project is about how superficial the society has become, and that we are measuring each other’s human value in material and external factors. Be successful Have an interesting, well paid and challenging job Look fantastic Be updated on everything Have a lot of unique hobbies Mingle with the right crowd Listen to the coolest music Do the right kind of workout Have the most popular dog Paint your living room in the latest shade Be a perfect friend, lover and parent See all the shows that everybody talks about And always be able to Say Something Smart!

Norway
Born 1973 in Norway. Lives and work in Oslo. I work with sculpture, objects and installation. The inspiration often emanates from subject matter concerning politics and contemporary questions. I aim to comment and create an arena for reflections. Conceptual contemporary ceramic. My aim is to renew the esthetics of the ceramic sculpture, and its role in the contemporary art scene. Visually the goal is to make something I have never seen before, and the works often have a surrealistic expression. To explore and experiment with different materials and medias, is a central part of my artistic venue. The works often have a machine-made and mass-produced character to imitate a commercial aesthetic expression. Readymades and found objects are either uses as they are, or casted in porcelain. It can therefore be hard to determine what is casted and what is the original. A duality often used in my works to challenge our perception of reality.
