The goddess of Lille (Rijsel in Flemish), work of Théophile Bra, is a bit like the Statue of Liberty of the city. This icon commemorates the heroism of the people of Lille in the face of the siege of 1792 by the imperial army. For a contemporary vision, I offer you a daring reinterpretation: the face hidden behind a bandana, firmly holding a Molotov cocktail in one hand and brandishing a middle finger with the other. A representation facing current tensions… and future ones.

France
Born in Lille (France) in 1981, drawing has always been a passion since his childhood. It is in this city that his inspiration emerges, imbued by the iconography of the 80s and 90s, but also by various influences such as Belgian television, Japanese and American popular culture. His works are often characterized by an essentially monochrome palette, using black, white or bright colors and a "kitsch" aesthetic, reminiscent of these iconic goodies from European brands such as Bonux, Nesquik or Kinder, which marked an entire generation.
