Title: "The Businessman" Description: "The Businessman" is a profound exploration of the intricate interplay between professional life and personal identity, inspired by the cultural phenomenon of 'Otaku' in Japanese society. In Japanese culture, 'Otaku' signifies an individual's obsessive interest in a subject or passion outside of their conventional professional sphere. This work delves into the world of Japanese businessmen who often spend their entire careers working for a single employer, adhering to strict professional norms and facing limited opportunities to express their true selves. The constraints imposed by their professional obligations, dictating their appearance and behavior, are poignantly reflected in the artist's own obsession with 'Shibari'. 'Shibari,' which simply translates to 'to tie,' is an artistic form of rope work that serves as a visual metaphor for the feelings of powerlessness imposed by the demands of the corporate world in which the artist is compelled to exist. This artwork is part of the larger 'I am your Mirror' photography project, which seeks to illuminate the hidden facets of personal identity, societal pressures, and the delicate balance between conformity and self-expression. "The Businessman" invites viewers to contemplate the profound impact of professional life on one's sense of self and the yearning for freedom from these constraints, as expressed through the art of Shibari.

I am a multidisciplinary artist and documentary photographer based in Italy, operating between Italy and London. With an initial background in Economics and corporate experience in Italy, I transitioned to photography after discovering an old 35mm Praktica on a London street. In London, I completed a certificate in Photographic Professional Practice at St Martin's College of Arts, followed by a full-time course in analogue photography and darkroom printing. Subsequently, I delved into the world of freelance press photography, working as a paparazzo for three years. My artistic focus revolves around the profound trust in human relationships. Since 2013, I've been documenting impactful stories in London, addressing topics like sexuality, gender equality, prejudice, love, abuse, negative thinking, and illness. I explore the depths of individuals through self-discovery, often engaging in conversations with strangers encountered online or on the street. Using photography as a therapeutic medium, I confront myself in the process. Photography becomes a live, performative act, where art materialises in the moment of connecting with another human being. The observer becomes the observed, and in the mirror, the person is reflected. In 2018, I joined Action Hybride, a Paris-based collective of international artists. The collective focuses on organising interviews, films, exhibitions, performances, and talks related to the body, memory, and the human condition. I have exhibited internationally in cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Brindisi, and Taranto.
