Vick Naresh a visual artist based in Hamilton, Canada. In his work, he tackles metaphorical narratives that traverse landscapes of social dynamics, contemporary culture, and personal experiences, with a particular emphasis on themes of post-colonial displacement, belonging, and identity. Vick's aesthetic is a fusion of elements, combining an evocative visual language, geometric structures, and the manifestation of imagined environments. These elements come together in a vibrant choreography of colors that distinctly echo his formative years in Mumbai. His creations serve as portals to moments of contemplation within an ethereal universe, an attempt to grapple with the intangible as they interlace memories from time rediscovered. __ Drawing on a background in graphic design, Vick’s art is digitally informed while incorporating classical painting techniques in their striking realization on canvas. His recent solo shows include "You Are Many Moves" at the Dundas Valley School of Art, Hamilton (2023) and "Sequence of Events" at The Assembly Gallery, Hamilton (2023). His work was also recently included in the 2023 Summer Salon at Dianna Witte Gallery, Toronto (2023). Previously, his work has been included in group shows at 19 Karen Gallery, Brisbane, Australia (2022); The Hamilton Artist's Inc. (2022); Art Gallery of Hamilton (2022); and Paul Elia Gallery (2023). In 2022, he was awarded a six-month art residency at the Hamilton Arts Council Studio within the Cotton Factory in Hamilton, Canada. In addition, Vick was a shortlisted nominee for the 2023 Hamilton Arts Award by the City of Hamilton. His paintings are held in private collections in Canada, USA, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and have been featured in local and international media broadcasts such as The Saatchi Art Catalogue, House & Garden UK, House & Home Canada, Toronto Star, and The Hamilton Spectator.
